Congratulations to 1st Nailsworth Guides – celebrating 100 years old today.
Enjoy the party!
Most Units from Girlguiding Nailsworth Valley District spent Saturday afternoon being entertained by The Stanley Players (www.facebook.com/stanleyplayers), in Kings Stanley. The production of Aladdin, starring one of our Leaders, was enjoyed by Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, not just from Nailsworth and Woodchester but also from Stroud and by the local Beavers and Cubs. Thank you Stanley Players for a good afternoon.

Congratulations to Maisie for receiving this very special award. We are all very proud of you.
The end of the summer term saw Trissa, a Leader from 1st Nailsworth Brownies, retire from her role of Brown Owl, after many years service. Fortunately she is taking on the role of Wise Owl for Nailsworth Valley District.
Her last meeting, as Leader-In-Charge of Nailsworth Brownies, took place on Rodborough Common. After an ice-cream from Winstones the Brownies played games by the Baden-Powell trees. The rain just about held off as Brown Owl was presented with gifts from Nailsworth Brownies and from Nailsworth Valley District.
Thank you for everything you’ve done for 1st Nailsworth Brownies, Brown Owl – enjoy your new role!
At the Gloucestershire Mid Division AGM in May, 2 Leaders from Nailsworth Valley District were awarded long service awards; Eve from 1st Nailsworth Rainbows for 5 years service and Jen from 1st Nailsworth Brownies, 1st Woodchester Brownies and 1st Woodchester Guides for 10 years service.
Well done to Eve and Jen, and thank you to all Leaders.

It will be open for all Sections to attend, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members. Lots of outdoor activities are being arranged. To reserve your place please contact your Leader.
Advance notice of two dates for your diary:
i) Saturday, 29th September 2012 – We will be out and about in Nailsworth, raising funds to support Girlguiding locally and talking to people about Girlguiding. Please come and see us and support us.
ii) Saturday, 6th October 2012 – Nailsworth Valley District Craft Badge Day. Members of all Sections welcome to attend. Brownies and Guides will have the opportunity to gain their Craft Badge. See your Leader for further details and to book your place.
One of the jobs a District Commissioner is expected to do is to visit each Group within her District. This allows her to meet all the girls taking part in local Girlguiding, to chat with all the Leaders, deal with any local concerns and ensure everyone is benefitting from the Girlguiding experience.
Having just completed a round of such visits I’ve been really impressed by the variety of activities girls have been able to take part in in Nailsworth Valley District. My first visit was to Forest Green Brownies where I was kindly invited to share their Jubilee party. With plenty of food, royal-themed games, decorations and music the party was a great success. At Woodchester, Brownies were busy decorating paper mache masks for their Night At The Theatre badge whilst the Guides tried foot painting, firstly holding the brush between their toes progressing to painting with the whole foot. Nailsworth Brownies were very active and set the floor boards of the Town Hall vibrating with their sports themed evening and the Guides enjoyed lighting fires and cooking outdoors.
Rainbows have a full Group again and were very pleased to welcome back one of their Leaders from Switzerland where she’s been working at Our Chalet, one of the Guide World Centres. Senior Section have had a session silk painting.
My thanks to all the Leaders for providing such a balanced and varied programme of activities and I hope all the girls continue to experience the fun of Girlguiding in Nailsworth Valley District.
At Nailsworth Town celebrations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Monday, 4th June 2012, Leaders from the District of Nailsworth Valley will be running a craft tent. Come along and see us and try your hand at some of the many crafts we will be providing. Crafts will be suitable for all ages of children; Rainbows, Brownies and Guides / Senior Section.
